The Malta Gaming Authority has told licensed operators to tighten betting monitoring and follow its advertising rules during the Youth Olympic Games, which run from 31 October to 13 November 2026. Affiliates and other third parties are named in the notice.
In a notice dated 28 October 2026 the Malta Gaming Authority called for heightened vigilance and suspicious betting reporting ahead of the Youth Olympic Games, which run from 31 October to 13 November (MGA; World Casino Directory).
Licensees must report suspicious betting without delay through the Suspicious Betting Reporting Mechanism, under Regulation 43 of Directive 3 of 2018. The MGA also says licensees should designate a Sports Integrity Point of Contact and cooperate with its Sports Integrity Unit. World Casino Directory reports a three-day window from first detecting an irregularity; the MGA notice itself says “without delay” and we found no day count in it, so we rely on the official wording.
The MGA reminds licensees that commercial communications must not target or cause harm to minors and vulnerable persons, directly or indirectly. It adds that licensees and third parties acting on their behalf must comply with Malta’s Commercial Communications Regulations (S.L. 583.09). World Casino Directory describes that as covering external marketers such as affiliate networks.
The notice is aimed at licensees, not at players. For players it is a reminder that a licensed operator is expected to monitor and report unusual betting, and that advertising of Malta-licensed brands has rules about minors. It does not change any rule for you. To check whether a site really holds a licence, see our guides on checking a casino licence and the licence lookup.
📌 In our view: youth events are a sensitive place for betting adverts, and a regulator naming affiliates in a notice is worth noting for anyone in the affiliate business. This is a reminder of existing rules, not new ones.
